About the service
SkiesToday is an independently operated public-data project that turns FAA and NOAA aviation feeds into a daily forecast for ordinary airline travelers.
The information that explains a difficult travel day is usually public, but it is spread across operational plans, airport advisories, weather polygons, and pilot reports written for specialists.
SkiesToday assembles those sources into one national picture: what is happening now, what may happen later, which airports deserve attention, and where weather or turbulence may matter.
How we earn trust

We translate aviation terminology with deterministic rules. Active restrictions and reported delays are always separated from possible or likely actions in an FAA plan. We do not turn a forecast into a confirmed delay.

Every live report shows when its source was last read. When a feed fails, we label older information as stale or unavailable instead of quietly presenting a zero.

SkiesToday explains the national travel environment. It is not a substitute for an airline's flight status, an airport announcement, a pilot briefing, or dispatch guidance.

Aviation feeds and their terminology change. If an explanation is unclear or wrong, report it publicly so the wording, code, and tests can be corrected and reviewed.
SkiesToday is not affiliated with or endorsed by the FAA, NOAA, any airport, or any airline. It does not accept an airline's version of events as a replacement for the underlying public source.
